Kate Sherwood is a cleantech and renewable energy executive with over 20 years experience leading successful go-to-market strategies and teams from startups to established firms. She created Execution Strategy in 2012 because she is passionate about (and good at) executing great strategy for companies that change the world.
With Execution Strategy, Ms. Sherwood consulted then went in-house with SolarCity, where, as Senior Director of Commercial Partner Sales, she built the commercial channel partner program that drove over 1/4 GW of utility, commercial, and public sector revenue through over 20 alliance partners including Direct Energy, Johns Manville, MP2 Energy, Tradition Energy, National Strategies, and NYSAC; then led the commercial entry into the Texas (ERCOT) market and performed due diligence on international solar and energy storage markets in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Prior to founding Execution Strategy, she gained broad experience in the renewable energy industry, as VP US sales at a Khosla Ventures-backed solar thermal-PV firm, SVP sales at a solar mounting system provider, director of development at Recurrent Energy, and a top-producing senior project development manager at SunPower (formerly PowerLight). Through these roles, she developed over $155 million in distributed solar projects for high-profile clients including Facebook, Macy’s, Applied Materials, Kaiser Permanente, Kendall-Jackson Wines, University of Arizona Tech Park, Clover Stornetta Dairy, and more.
Prior to the renewable energy industry, Ms. Sherwood held a diverse set of roles in international sales, marketing, finance and strategy consulting with Accenture, Sun Microsystems, the U.S.-India Business Council, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
She holds a MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BS cum laude from George Mason University, where she was a member of the school’s first NCAA Division I lacrosse team. She lives in Austin with her family, and is passionate about the profitable implementation of renewable energy and cleantech solutions such as energy efficiency, wind, and solar.
